Artist - Josee Clerk

Born in South Africa, Durban, Josee grew up on a sugar farm. Her family are of Mauritian descent. She began art in her late thirties and fell in love with painting. Josee has worked on many mediums including oil, acrylic, water colour, pastel, pencil, ink and charcoal. She loves variety and enjoys a challenge. Josee now teaches art from her home studio and finds it rewarding when her students tell her how much they are learning. She says " Art is good for the soul and it takes you to a world that you desire".

Josee feels close to nature and believes that flowers are Gods gift of beauty to us all. She loves to be creative and experiments with different techniques giving her work originality. Palette knife is often used and texture is important to her which helps to create movement allowing the painting to talk.

Her paintings can be found in different corners of the world and she has done many commissioned work. She has been a member of the Highway Art Group since 1999 and is a committee member of that group. She is also a member of KZNSA - Kwazulu natal society of arts.
